![]() ![]() This research aims to analyze the fact that alternative screening is not only a form of appreciation upon filmmakers by showing their films to the audience, but it also has the potential to be a profitable film activity as well. They use profit sharing system to share the earnings with the exhibitor, film producer/distributor, and the owner of the exhibition place. Alternative screening usually charges admission fee to appreciate the exhibited film in the form of “donation” or “ticket”. Exhibiting a film on an alternative screening can be arranged by a colaboration between the exhibitor who schedules the program and the film producer or distributor who supplies the films. The birth of alternative screening brings a new way to elongate a film’s screening time outside of commercial cinema theater. This practice leads to Indonesian feature-length films being unnoticed and unrecognized by most movie-goers. However, it is often that in Indonesia, most commercial cinema theaters only exhibit Indonesian feature-length films for a shorter limited time compared to other imported films – to accomodate audiences’ preferences. ![]() Feature-length films can be widely appreciated and they are usually rewarding for both the filmmaker and the exhibitor. Nowadays, commercial cinema theater is one way of exhibition that is well-known by worldwide society. Existence of film industry is supported by supply chain management handled by a film producer, which includes production, distribution, and exhibition.
